Star of Bethlehem

Ornithogalum umbellatum

Photo of Star of Bethlehem
Photo by Dr. John Meade, weed scientist emeritus
Rutgers Cooperative Extension

The white flower of this plant is quite attractive in the spring but so too are the white bulbs which are uncovered by spring frosts. If eaten, these bulbs can be quite dangerous to humans and livestock.
